Fermi third-party notices

Revision 9

Fermi is proprietary freeware from Ayers Electronics Inc. The components listed here are not covered by that license. Each is the property of its own authors and is used under its own terms.

Third-party copyright lines are reproduced with the years their own licenses carry. Fermi's own copyright line never carries a year; that rule applies to Ayers Electronics Inc only.

The full inventory, with every component's license text, ships with the software as THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.

External executables, invoked across a process boundary, and the models they read

The executables are independent programs. Fermi starts them as child processes and talks to them over a local port. They are not linked into Fermi and their licenses do not extend to it. Fermi carries neither them nor the models: when you turn the assistant on, it downloads them from their publishers onto your computer.

ComponentLicenseNotes
llama.cpp (llama-server)MIT LicenseThe language-model engine, run on your computer. Copyright (c) 2023-2026 The ggml authors. github.com/ggml-org/llama.cpp
piperMIT LicenseThe speech engine behind the natural voice. Fermi downloads it only when you choose that voice in Settings, and runs it on your computer to say an answer aloud. Copyright (c) 2022 Michael Hansen. github.com/rhasspy/piper. Its release archive also carries piper-phonemize (MIT), espeak-ng (GNU GPL v3 or later, used only by piper), ONNX Runtime (MIT) and the libtashkeel model (MIT).

The models

The models are data files the engines read: llama.cpp, whisper.cpp through Whisper.net for the one that hears, and piper for the natural voice, when you choose it. Each is used under its publisher's license, at huggingface.co under the name shown.

Server: bundled .NET libraries

Managed assemblies compiled into the server. They read the documents you point Fermi at, hold the index and carry the Model Context Protocol, and their terms apply to the server binary directly.

PdfPig, Apache License 2.0

Fermi modifies none of the package. PdfPig is derived from software developed at The Apache Software Foundation and based on source code originally developed in the PDFBox and FontBox projects (Copyright (c) 2002-2007, www.pdfbox.org). It includes the Adobe Glyph List and the Zapf Dingbats Glyph List (Copyright 1997, 1998, 2002, 2007, 2010 and 2002, 2010 Adobe Systems Incorporated), the Adobe Font Metrics for the PDF Core 14 fonts, and Adobe CMaps for PDF fonts (Copyright 1990-2009 Adobe Systems Incorporated). Their terms are reproduced in the shipped THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.

The other Apache License 2.0 packages

Fermi modifies none of them. SixLabors.Fonts is Copyright (c) Six Labors. SQLitePCLRaw is Copyright 2014-2024 SourceGear, LLC; the native library it carries is SQLite, which its authors have placed in the public domain. ModelContextProtocol is Copyright (c) 2024-2026 Model Context Protocol a Series of LF Projects, LLC.

The console's chat: bundled JavaScript

The chat on the console's Ask page is one script built from 100 npm packages and served to your browser: 98 under the MIT License, one under the ISC License (@ungap/structured-clone) and one under the BSD 3-Clause License (secure-json-parse). The largest are React (Copyright (c) Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates) and assistant-ui. Every package's own license file ships beside the script.

Tray: vendored Go modules

The tray is original Fermi code. It is built with Ayers Electronics' own platform module, which is not third party, with the three modules below, and with the Go standard library and runtime (BSD-3-Clause, Copyright The Go Authors). Their terms are reproduced in the shipped THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.

Not distributed

Test-only and build-time packages (xunit, xunit.runner.visualstudio, Microsoft.NET.Test.Sdk, Microsoft.AspNetCore.Mvc.Testing, dotnet-ef) never reach a user. They are recorded in the shipped THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md so a future audit does not have to rediscover why they are absent here.
